Are you needing help advocating for services, or help gathering documents to apply for services? Then Winter Marshall-Allen from H.O.M.E.R. Equitable Relations: Education, Wellness & Advocacy might be able to help you.
Winter is a 15 year public educator specializing in Special Education and behavior intervention and a specialist in the secondary setting. Winter previously worked in the Oklahoma public schools before moving to Alaska. Upon arriving in Alaska Winter taught in the village communities of Ambler and Koztebue before she was relocated to the road system here in Homer after the state budget cuts in 2016. Winter is the 2019 National Education Association Social Justice Activist of the Year. She regularly advocates for local, state and federal policy regarding IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and cultural relevance and competency within policy and practice.
My Mission- H.O.M.E.R. Educational, Wellness & Advocacy aims to provide a platform to amplify and further advocacy work already being done in Homer, to support equitable practices, to increase access through education and applied behavioral analytic practices and supports.
Vision- My vision is to see my clients and their families relish in whatever approximation of self-sufficiency that individual is able to attain and maintain while accessing their community and providing support to the community as they acknowledge these individuals participation.
